Sochi Park

Sochi Park

Sochi Park, situated on the grounds of the 2014 Winter Olympics along the Black Sea coast, was the first theme park in Russia built to international standards. It is frequently referred to as the “Russian Disneyland”.

The theme park is divided into several themed areas and features a wide range of attractions, including roller coasters, water attractions, family rides, shows, performances and interactive exhibits.

FOR SOCHI PARK

2013 – 2015

PRE-OPENING MANAGEMENT

Our specialists were responsible for the pre-opening management of Sochi Park in Russia, aiming to ensure the park was fully operational in time for the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Key tasks included overseeing the construction of infrastructure, buildings, and attractions; handling financial planning and budgeting; recruiting and training staff; setting up a pricing strategy and ticketing systems; implementing operational procedures; creating a marketing plan; and ensuring compliance with International Olympic Committee standards. The primary goal was to ready the park for opening.

THEMING

One section of our team focused on Theming within the park. The major attractions had already been purchased and included in the master plan, which was developed before ParkProfs’ involvement, and these were to be themed by the suppliers. However, many of the medium and smaller attractions were purchased later, and lacked theming, which was essential to enhance the park’s appeal.

Thus, the ParkProfs experts explored Russian history, folklore, and fairytales to develop engaging storytelling that would add to the park’s aesthetic value. Both local and international suppliers were engaged to implement this theming, with ParkProfs specialists overseeing and guiding the entire implementation process.

GENERAL PARK MANAGEMENT

After the opening for the 2014 Winter Olympics, the ParkProfs team remained for an additional year for the General Management of the Park: to refine all operational systems and processes, enhance safety procedures, and train the onboarding management teams in every aspect of amusement park management.

We focused on establishing Sochi Park as a safe and sustainable amusement park, well-prepared for the future and staffed by experienced and welcoming personnel.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT NEW DEVELOPMENTS

After the opening, some parts of the park remained incomplete, and one section was not developed at all. One of our park professionals was assigned to oversee the project management for these new developments in the park. This involved selecting suppliers, scheduling projects to minimize disruption to ongoing park operations, controlling costs, ensuring implementation quality, and overall monitoring until the handover to the Operational Department.

As a result, the Bogatyr section in the Land of Heroes was created, and the Land of Science and Fiction was expanded with new attractions aligned with the general theme.
